How to quickly create a remote Drupal site with Pantheon.
One alternative to setting up a local Drupal installation is using a remote hosted solution. There are several out there, in this video I'm going to walk though the process of setting up a site using the Pantheon service. You can get to the Pantheon site by going to get pantheon.
com, and let's go ahead and click on the "Create free account" button. Now, let's go ahead and fill out this form. I'm going to fast forward to this part.
Okay, once we have everything filled out here, go ahead and click continue. Once we submit the form, it will forward us to the Your Sites and Account page which you can always get to by clicking the Your Sites and Account in the header here. This area here will show our sites.
But right now it says email verification required. So we'll need to check our email and then jump back to this site from that email. So if we go check our email we should get an email that looks something like this, and it has a link to our dashboard with the verification.
Once we're all verified, it says "Your Pantheon account is ready" and we can create a new site now. I'm going to go ahead and click that. Now, the way Pantheon works is that we'll create an empty site and then we'll populate it with a Drupal installation of some kind.
Then we'll install Drupal and then we'll have our Drupal site to work with. So I'm going to go ahead and name this Learn PHP, and it will automatically populate the subdomain for gotpantheon dot com, and I'm going to hit continue. On this step here, you see it's step two.
It's spinning up a site and it will take a few minutes in order to work through this process. We're just going to fast forward through the rest of this. Once it's ready it says, "Pantheon site launched," and we can click continue.
