Module Dev Skill Builder Ideas
Hello All,
I would like to become a rock star in module development however; I'm a noob when it comes to programming. It would be awesome if there were some beginner, intermediate and advanced module exercises. The "Trails History" module is an excellent gateway module to get the wheels turning, but additional challenges would be superb for serious skill building. Also, including clues and/or recommended hooks with best practices in mind would be fantastic.
I'm not really thinking tutorials here, but actual challenges with a road map for success included.
Any Ideas or comments on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
I've been in programming for years. Then I took a six year break and am now working for a Christian organization in Argentina (originally from England). A fellow worker then needed a web site. I thought I'd knock it up in a few weeks being competent in Perl, SQL, various scripting languages etc. Today, after a year or so, I finally finished it (at least for now).
I got my basic understanding of Drupal 7 from this site and still refer to it quite often as well as doing countless google searches. I have a lot less hair and a lot more knowledge (hard earned) than I did a year ago.
What I am saying is find a project that will tolerate a noob but actually needs doing (local charity, a friends small business etc). Keep on keeping on with it and do not give up and you will get there! You'll also have something you can show people to prove your skills.
Martin.
