Blogging: Drupal vs. Wordpress

I need to setup my blogging pages (in Japanese and English). I keep hearing Wordpress is the best platform for blogging. I started taking Buildamodule.com and wondering if it make sense to start learning Wordpress in addition to Drupal. Any thoughts?
if you watch the videos on this site, you will be able to work cross-platform... drupal to wp. i wouldn't necessarily say that a good background in wp is equivalent to a good background in drupal. bam provides excellent tutorials regardless of web experience/background.
in a matter of months, i know it is possible to go from knowing very little about drupal to setting up a git repository w/ vc to participate in my first 'real' active development of modules. oh yeah, wp is no problem now.
