I've just started following the tutorials and downloaded Drupal 7 from Bitnami as a desktop installation on my Windows PC.

After the installation, I set my username and password, but when I view the home page, I don't see the administration menu bar across the top and cannot seem to login. Furthermore, if I try and reset my password, it doesn't send an email to my gmail account (which was setup during installation).

I've tired removing the installation and reinstalling but still get the same result. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please?

Hi Gary,

I believe the login should be 'admin' for the username, and whatever password you provided. The reason you're not getting the email is likely because either Bitnami doesn't come with a mail server, or it's not configured properly (it doesn't work on my machine).

Once you're able to log in, you'll see the admin menu across the top.

Let me know if this helps point you in the right direction.
