Applying for a Drupal.org CVS account

Applying for a Drupal.org CVS account is a Build a Module.com single video

Learning Drupal development is awesome, but that awesomness is compounded when you begin sharing your work with the Drupal community. By sharing your code, you accomplish several things: First, the community will help you identify areas in your code that either don't meet standards or have security flaws. Secondly, since your code solves a problem you had, chances are that other people are having the same problem, and by sharing you can help other people. It's a way of moving from being a Drupal user to an active participant.

In order to share your module on Drupal.org, you will need to first apply for a CVS account. CVS stands for Concurrent Versioning System, and by using CVS, you can do things like create different releases of your module for different versions of Drupal and roll back code after an accidental change.

The application process can be somewhat rigorous, and it's important to make a good first impression. Your application will be reviewed by one (or several) Drupal rock stars who know their stuff. What they're looking for is a good motive, and a reasonable understanding regarding security and good practices. This video will help guide you through the process and give you tips on how to improve your chances of approval.
